Ok folks, I have a delicious little peanut butter banana smoothie with yogurt recipe that one of my readers, Mariaan, submitted. This particular recipe looks very yummy, and it comes with a little spicy twist, cayenne pepper! Now this recipe also comes with some other deliciousness as you can sweeten it with either honey or maple syrup, both of which I love. I also think you can use organic agave syrup as well which acts as a tasty substitution for either maple syrup or honey (it even works on pancakes and waffles!).
Many of my smoothie recipes call for the use of yogurt, particularly Greek yogurt, and this recipe does too, but mariann doesn’t specify what “style” of non fat plain yogurt, so my advice is to use my go to favorite which is non fat Greek yogurt. This is because it’s got a tangy kick to it, has double the protein of normal yogurt, and makes the smoothie a lot creamier and more consistent, which I love.
However a more traditional European style yogurt will work too, especially if you want a thinner smoothie. So let’s get to that recipe shall we? Dig these types of smoothies? Me too! Check out this delicious peanut butter banana smoothie! Thanks for the recipe Mariann!
Peanut Butter Banana Smoothie with a Twist!

- 2 tbsp of peanut butter
- 1 tbsp honey or maple syrup
- 1 tsp of cayenne pepper
- Pour your in your milk and yogurt
- Then scoop in your peanut butter and sweetener of choice
- Add in your cayenne pepper
- Finally toss in your banana chunks last
- Blend Until desired consistency
Servings (yield) : 2-3 servings
Notes : This recipes does call for the use of cayenne pepper, and that’s how it is intended, but if you are too sensitive to it, or just feel the recipe would be preferable without it, try it without the pepper first, then add it in later if your feeling adventurous! You can use non dairy alternatives to the milk and yogurt if you would prefer. I enjoy using coconut milk and yogurt myself, but rice or almond milk will work too.
